Fragaria spp. (Strawberries)
Requirements: Strawberry plants will fruit best in well-draining, slightly sandy soil.
Care: They have shallow root systems so need to be watered frequently and they perform best when given fertilizers low in nitrogen. Trimming back the runners they send out each year will also help the plants divert more energy into bearing fruit.
Fragaria sp. 'Pink Panda'
This attractive pink flowered strawberry is most used as an ornamental groundcover. It is easily contained and removed compared to other traditional groundcovers. full sun/partial shade. It is everbearing and will produce small, sweet berries.
Fragaria × ananassa 'White Carolina' (Pineberry)
A white strawberry with a unique taste (think sweet strawberry and pineapple). They will produce more fruit when able to cross pollinate with other varieties of strawberries.
