Lavandula × chaytorae
Lavandula x chaytorae is a hybrid cross between L. angustifolia and L. lanata. It was first discovered in the U.K. in the mid 1980s. They are defined by their soft, silver-gray foliage which contrasts well with their bright purple flowers. They make an excellent choice for ornamental or hedging purposes, especially in hot, dry environments. The long stems are great for bouquets and crafts, such as lavender wands. Some cultivars are proving to make quality oil plants for perfumery. They have all proven hardy in the PNW and are pest and deer resistant.
