Salvia elegans (Pineapple Sage)

A perennial sage native to Mexico. Leaves possess a strong pineapple scent and make for a pleasant addition to fruit salads and iced teas. Long summer blooms of scarlet red flower spikes that keep hummingbirds coming back for more. Perennial.

Requirements: Full sun and well-draining soil.

Height: to 4 ft.   Spread: to 3 ft.

Salvia elegans 'Tangerine' (Tangerine Sage)

A cultivar of pineapple sage with a fruity tangerine flavor. Blooms earlier and stays more compact than pineapple sage with  wider foliage that gives an overall bushier appearance. Ours has been slightly hardier than any of our pineapple sages as well. Attracts hummingbirds. Perennial.
