Salvia apiana (White Sage)

Also known as sacred sage and bee sage. A California & Mexico native that was traditionally used as food by the Cahuilla and Chumash peoples and used both ceremonially and medicinally in other indigenous cultures. A popular herb for smudging and cleansing spaces. Blooms spires of white flowers in summer and is famously known as a bee plant, though it attracts hummingbirds as well. 

Note: wild populations are currently being illegally over-harvested for profit from sage smudge sticks. For those who wish to smudge with white sage we strongly encourage finding ethically-sourced products or making your own smudge sticks from propagated plants. 

Requirements:  Full sun and well-draining soil. Drought tolerant once established.

Care: Prune heavy, woody stems in early spring to promote bushier growth.

Height: to 5 ft.   Spread: to 5 ft.
