Melaleuca alternifolia (Australian Tea Tree)


An evergreen tree native to New South Wales. It blooms eye-catching fluffy white flowers in late spring and has a multitude of medicinal uses. It is most popularly known for its commercial production of tea tree oil.


Requirements: A sheltered and sunny location with well-draining soil. Hardy to under 15 F and possibly lower if next to a building with ambient heat and/or some protection from severe winter weather.


Height: to 20 ft. Spread: to 10 ft.
