Dioscorea batatas (Cinnamon Vine)
Also known as Chinese yam. A hardy, perennial vine with beautiful heart shaped leaves and abundant blooms of miniscule cream-colored flowers in summer that give off a wonderfully fragrant cinnamon aroma. The edible tubers are used for both culinary and medicinal purposes and can be harvested after 2-3 years. Their texture is similar to a potato with a slightly nutty flavor.
Requirements: Full sun to partial shade and well-draining soil.
