Description: semi-evergreen shrub; a cultivar that dates back to at least 1817 and possibly earlier. Larger than the species in leaves, flowers, and eventual size with a more stiff, upright growth habit that is less prone to scramble. A free-standing shrub that will remain evergreen in all but the severest of winters. Large, slightly fragrant, yellow flowers in spring and sporadically throughout the summer and into autumn. Tolerates partial shade and heavy soil.
