Convallaria majalis 'Fernwood's Golden Slippers'
Common name(s): golden lily of the valley
Description: 'Fernwood's Golden Slippers' is a cultivar with bright gold leaves that fade to chartreuse and spreads much less aggressively than the species; a low, spreading perennial groundcover that is easy to grow and reliably hardy in any soil type (including clay). Lily of the Valley has played a huge part in history as a symbol of love and is the national flower of Finland as well as the official May Day flower in France. Fragrant white bell flowers bloom most of spring and are followed by inedible red berries. Introduced by Fernwood Nursery of Maine where it was found as a golden sport on C. majalis 'Cream da Mint.'
