Description: evergreen shrub; an introduction by Wild Ginger Farm selected from a population on the Southern Oregon coast for its particularly "fiery-red" flowers. Narrow, glossy dark green foliage and long-blooming trumpet flowers in spring and early summer. Will go summer dormant to combat drought when water is not available and then refresh its foliage with the first autumn rains. Performs well with morning sun and afternoon shade.

Position: full sun to partial shade and well-draining soil


Uses: ornamental, to attract pollinators


Winter Hardiness: to 5 F and below


Drought: adapted to 3 months of summer drought
