Origanum 'Lizzie's Hybrid #2'

Common name(s): ornamental oregano

Description: perennial; apparently the best subject of 6 selected seedlings by Liz Fial at Calflora Nursery. Thought to be a cross between O. laevigatum and O. vulgare. It is sometimes referred to as just Origanum 'Lizzie', but we prefer to celebrate the specific success of seedling #2. Dark rosy and chartreuse bracts with tiny dark pink flowers in summer. Spreads slowly by rhizomes.

Position: full sun and lean, well-draining soil

Uses: ornamental, to attract pollinators

Winter Hardiness: to 0 F and below

Drought: adapted to 3 months of summer drought
